Spring in Malta is also a season of celebration. In the weeks before Lent, Carnival arrives, when Valletta and villages across Malta and Gozo fill with colour, music and elaborate floats. In spring, Malta’s cliff paths are at their most beautiful, as wildflowers begin to emerge through the pale limestone. Creative afternoons fit naturally into spring, including pottery painting classes at nearby Villa Bologna Pottery, where guests can try their hand at decorating ceramics in the gardens of one of Malta’s most historic baroque estates.

A day trip to Gozo is a must in spring. The island’s countryside is green and fragrant, perfect for walking along the historic salt pans, exploring small villages, and enjoying Gozo’s slower rhythm of life. The beaches remain quiet at this time of year, ideal for long coastal walks and swimming for those who don't mind colder water.
